Cassidy vs Lily vs Burnsy: which wakesurf shape is right for you?
Short answer: pick the Burnsy if you want speed and big airs, or if you weigh over 150 lbs (about 165 lbs for female riders). Pick the Cassidy if you love spins and reverts. Pick the Lily if you want to carve and get into airs on a board that's easy to ride.
The Burnsy shape: speed and big airs
Our best-selling shape. A low nose rocker, hard Stealth Design rails and a deep concave make it incredibly fast, so it builds the speed you need for big airs above the wave's crest. A straight fin setup keeps it loose for surface spins, shuv-its and big spins.
- Best for: speed, airs, progression and bigger riders.
- Sizes: 4'3" to 4'10".
- Boards: Maui Floral, Peppermint Patty, Cliff Jump, Jake Caster x deadmau5 Pro, T-Dog Pro.
The Cassidy shape: spins and reverts
Designed with 3x World Champion Cassidy Gale. The squared-off blunt nose, diamond tail and hourglass outline make it our loosest surf shape. It breaks free and spins with almost no effort, so reverts, shuvs and surface spins come quicker.
- Best for: surface tricks and riders who love to spin.
- Sizes: 4'2" and 4'4", up to 150 lbs (about 165 lbs for female riders).
- Boards: Cassidy Gale Pro, Karen Pro Silver Lining, Cassidy Pro All Pink, plus a kids' size.
The Lily shape: carving and airs
Designed with pro rider Lily Anderson. It's slightly more buoyant and holds its line better than the Cassidy, so it builds speed through turns and carries it into airs. It's easy to get up and riding.
- Best for: carving, airs, beginners and riders who want to progress.
- Sizes: 4'2" and 4'4", up to 150 lbs (about 165 lbs for female riders).
- Boards: Lily Anderson Pro, Lily Pro Bloom, Lily Pro Chicklet.

What about wake skim? The Vedder shape
Every Kanuk wake skim board is built on our proven Vedder shape. Full carbon construction keeps it stiff, light and fast, and the perforated foam core won't take on water. Shaped rails hold speed, and the 1" fin gives just enough grip while letting the board break free for shuvs and spins. Sizes run 46" to 56". Shop wake skim boards
FAQ
Which shape is best for beginners?
For wakesurf, the Lily is our most beginner-friendly board. Heavier beginners should go with the Burnsy for the extra size. A Vedder skim board is the easiest to get up on, since it's less buoyant and you can push the board right under your feet. It's harder to learn to ride, though. It's loose, so staying balanced and in control takes more practice.
I'm over 150 lbs. Which should I get?
Most riders over 150 lbs should go with the Burnsy, which comes in 4'3" to 4'10". Female riders can ride a 4'4" Cassidy or Lily up to about 165 lbs, but that's the max. Our size charts are guidelines for the average rider.
Two of us are sharing one board. What size?
Pick the size for the heavier rider.
Are traction pads and fins included?
Yes, with every board. Pads come unapplied so you can place them yourself.
